Home contents/building insurance (UK)?

I'm just about to move into a rented flat with my girlfriend, and we're trying to get our insurance sorted, but one thing is worrying me. If we have tenants contents insurance, and we accidentally cause structural/building damage (eg. by causing a flood or a fire), will the landlord's insurance cover the repairs, or will we be expected to (as we caused it). Most contents insurances we've looked at only cover you for between 2k and 12k of damages to the landlord's fixtures and fittings, and say nothing about cover for structural damages. it also seems that we can't get building insurance, as we don't own the property. so if the landlord's insurance expects us, the tenants, to pay for any building damages we may cause, and our contents/tenants insurance doesn't cover that, would we be personally liable for tens or hundereds of thousands of pounds of costs? thanks :-)

I have done a few quotes already but was wondering if I have missed any good companies to try? so far I have tried (in order of best pricing to worst) For a $8990 red 1998 VW golf - with me being a learner/almost on my Ps These Indicators are not exact and are dependant on my own conditions and answers as I entered them, In the online quote systems each provides Just Car insurance - med price with low excess even with me being a young driver budget direct - lowest price with excess of medium execess suncorp- lowish price with excess medium excess racq - high price with low excess would not insure me due to car price - aami Companies offering overly high prices or excessive excess + and not worth considering NRMA allianz HBA I am a 22yr old female
